Saturday Catch-Up: Change that Matters

Growth is change. Personal growth in the form of learning new skills, taking on a new challenge, meeting new people, expanding networks: it all means change. Professional, business or organisational growth is no different. In order to conquer new markets, invest in technology or process redesign, compete with new ideas, develop new products, or redevelop redundant lines of business: this all means change too. Change only occurs outside of personal and professional comfort zones; and it delivers better when there's a team to support it. In this Saturday Catch-up we recap some of our blogs that demonstrate change that matters.

  1. The Virtuous Circle of Change from 1 August 2024 explores how when the idea of a change or transformation first arises it can come from anywhere - external threats in the market, opportunities in technology or a need to update processes. It can meet with a variety of reactions depending on a number of factors, not least of which is the organisation's past experiences with change management. An inclusive organisation that supports individuals and professionals to grow their communication, change and leadership skills through change initiatives will enable virtually limitless opportunities to achieve successful transformations.

  2. Change is often hard for people to accept and to go through, although it doesn't always have to be.  A side effect of planned or unplanned change is disruption to people, processes, systems, projects and organisations. We looked at why change management is needed and why there is magic in managing change as compared to letting it happen organically, chaotically or without guidance. This is Why Change Management is Needed. Read more in our post published 30 July 2024.

  3. Published 17 July 2024, Assessing the Financials: The ROI of Change Management looked at the true value of change management as a crucial element in driving success and ensuring sustainable growth. Return on Investment (ROI) is a familiar metric that not only quantifies financial benefits but also serves as a compass for strategic decision-making.

  4. In Beyond the Tears and Triumphs there's a Sense of Achievement from 12 March 2024, we discuss how change management might appear to be some fearful, unknowable process that's all about infographics, long meetings, talking about your feelings and PowerPoint. Change management might seem like a mechanical process, or perhaps a machiavellian one? But it isn’t just about templates, timelines and plans; it can be an adventure that leads to profound personal and organisational growth. Amidst the challenges and uncertainties, there lies a hidden gem: the sense of achievement that change management brings.

  5. In Mastering Change Resilience - A Guide for Change Practitioners published June 5 2023, we address resilience as being more than just bouncing back from challenges; it's about navigating through change with agility and adaptability. Change practitioners need to cultivate a resilient mindset to effectively guide organisations through transitions. By embracing change as an opportunity for growth rather than a threat, leaders can instill greater confidence and stability within their teams.

And that's what really matters in this Saturday Catch-Up: Change that Matters
